Title: Poet's Cafe
Post by: Ezekial on January 20, 2005, 11:05:18 PM

Unfortunately, Ezekial got a little trigger happy when attempting to delete "Ezekial's Portfolio of Doom" and the Poet's Cafe mysteriously vanished into oblivion.
My sincerest apologies.

Lets try that again.

red and gold glass

this morning, it dawned on me, over a cup of coffee
that in the blink of an eye
a thousand graves were filled
a thousand smiles were formed
the sudden self-awareness rushed me, and i grew weary as though i'd ran across the desert
these are horrid times
our contemporary messiahs murdered or fallen
the great cobains and jimmy deans
stolen, shattered broken dreams
and here i am, basking in my own sunrise
debating the worth of all of this
whether or not i should make that phone call
or write that letter
or pursue that consistent folly, just to see someone's eyes sparkle
maybe i'll change the radio station
or wait for a blanket of dust to settle on the steinway
regardless, a flicker of hope still lingers in the distance,
just there.
