"Alright, let us head home." Amani was somewhat
leading the way. They came close to her home, but she continued on
to the willow tree. Amani landed and kneeled before the grave.
"Lathtal my friend, we missed you tonight."
She gave a small
prayer and began walked out onto the water. Amani wasn't walking on
water, but it looked like it. She began dancing and used her magic
to have the water swirl around her. |

| Some of the water sprits began flying around Amani
making it look like little balls of blue light were apart of the
water. Amani soon stopped her dance and smiled at the sprites and
thanked them. "Jeil lets go inside now, it is getting late." Amani
smiled at him and offered her hand to fly back to the
house. |

Eva's eyes fluttered open slowly the next morning,
and she savored the luxuriant feel of soft blankets and warm
sunlight. She snuggled a little deeper into her pillow, causing
something wet to roll down her cheek. That woke her up a little, and
she moved one hand to brush it away. It seemed to be a tear. Her
brows furrowed and she attempted to sit up, but her movement was
impeded by the arm draped across her waist.
This woke her up
a LOT. She sat up slowly and assessed her situation. Glancing down,
she realized that the person sleeping next to her was Weiße, the
angel she'd met two days ago.
Oookay....tears on cheek
plus Weiße in bed minus clothing equals....
Eva's brain
put two and two together and promptly got 4 1/2. While it was close
to the actual answer, it was just slightly off. Her eyes narrowed
into ice-blue slits, and she whipped one of the poles off her
earrings. She pressed it across Weiße's throat just hard enough for
it to be uncomfortable and growled, "What the hell did you do to
her, you bastard?!" |

Amani had slept but very
little that night for nightmares had haunted her. But she took the
morning to sit and talk to Lathtal's grave. She wasn't really
talking much at his passing she prayed that he had made it safely to
the otherside, but she was just talking about her thoughts and
wanted someone to listen.
"I wonder if what the Matsi said
was true...my dreams haunt me showing me death at every turn. I wake
up crying too afraid to fall back asleep and be tortured by the
sights. I do not want to see my friends dying a thousand deaths or
the lives of innocents just thrown away." She continued on with
tears rolling down her cheeks, staining that angelic
face. |

"Oh, really?!" Eva snapped. "Well, if you didn't
take advantage of her, then why was she cr-" She stopped suddenly,
and her head involuntarily tilted to one side. After a moment, she
scowled. "Well, goddammit, Naeva, why don't you tell
me these things beforehand?!" She shook her head angrily before
turning her attention back to Weiße.
"Well, apparently Miss
Naeva neglected to inform me about her activities last night," she
said begrudgingly, "so I suppose I owe you an apology. I'm sorry,
but I'd rather assume the worst and be wrong than assume the best
and be wrong." She looked up at him somewhat uncomfortably.
"Though...I don't understand why she wouldn't tell me about
it. Maybe she's being shy." She shrugged. "On another subject, I
don't mean to be rude, but would you mind turning around for a
minute? I need to get a robe or
something..." |

Eva found the cotton robe Naeva had worn to the
baths yesterday and tied it securely around her. She glanced over
her shoulder at Weiße, who seemed to be uncomfortable.
Well, she admitted, I guess he does have good
reason. She sat back down so that she was opposite him on the
bed and sighed.
"Look, I'm sorry," she said uneasily. "It's
just that generally Naeva tells me when
anything...*ahem*...important happens that I should know about. So,
when she didn't tell me, I assumed something weird had happened."
She rubbed the back of her neck selfconsciously. "So...I didn't mean
to snap and threaten you, and I hope that we can start over this
morning. Okay?" |

Eva politely sat with her eyes averted, figuring
she owed him the common courtesy of not peeping at him. She tied the
robe tighter around her and looked around for her outfit from the
previous day. It was laying neatly folded on top of the dresser, and
it looked cleaner than she remembered.
Guess one of the
servants washed it, she thought, and brought the pile of
clothing to the bed to begin dressing. Looking out the window, she
noticed that the sun was shining brightly and it seemed like it was
going to be a warm(if not hot) day. With that in mind, she dressed
herself in everything she'd worn before but omitted the white shirt
underneath the corset. Tucking the shirt into her pack and leaving
the robe on the bed, she was ready to go. She looked out the window
pensively, and her gaze grew serious.
I wonder....well,
now's as good a time as ever to ask, I guess.
"Ne,
Weiße," she said a bit quietly. "Could I ask you
something?" |

Aedan had woken up sprawled on an armchair in the
den. He'd felt exhausted, and a bit lightheaded. He blinked his blue
eyes open and squinted in the morning's light, stretching himself
out like a cat, allowing a deep groan to escape his throat. He got
up and went to bathe, and clothed himself in a clean snug fitting
black shirt, and his usual loose long shorts. He looked into the
mirror while smoothing back his damp hair. He stood there for a
moment, tracing the wound on his face that had begun to scar with
his fingertips.
He stopped quite suddenly, as he felt something
stir. He sensed something impure and vile coming near. He stumbled
back suddenly pressing against his temples. Visions. So many
visions. Flashes of Ryou... Sangan.. Xian. Suddenly he was in the
sky, leading the soldiers into battle. Was this a memory? Suddenly
he saw Weiße beside him calling out instruction to the timid but
determined soldiers... Ariene.. He heard her voice calling his name.
And then it all stopped. Breathing harshly, He opened his eyes
hesitantly. He calmed himself down and made his way down the hall
and timidly knocked on Naeva's door....

slightly behind us, Ariene was with her. Something was coming toward

doesn't know him because she never went to see him. He
was.....nice," she admitted. "He was a good person, for the most
part. But he kept talking about the revolution he was going to
start, some change that he wanted to effect. He wouldn't talk about
it much, only when he'd had a little to drink, and even then he
wouldn't describe it. The only thing he'd say was that he was going
to change the world, make things right." She glanced at Weiße.
"I can only guess that he was referring to his being kicked
out of heaven," she began again. "I didn't ask, though. We made an
agreement not to judge each other, despite....despite what we felt."
She looked away. "I don't know what happened to him since then. He's
twisted his soul around, I can tell, but he didn't use to be like
that..." |

As Amani was hugging him a vision flashed in her
mind. She saw two beings one tall with black wings and a small
little one with wings as well. She recognized them both being Jeil,
the tall one being his half breed form like herself. But the little
demon was different from the one she knew.
She was still
hugging Jeil but her face and eyes held a blank look as she was
still having visions fly in her mind which had now passed to those
of her dreams.
So much blood....death...and
destruction.... Tears formed at her eyes and rolled down her
face. |

Amani took Jeil's hand up and smiled,
"Thanks, I'll be in the dining area and then after breakfast we can
decide what we are going to do ok?"
She left proceding to
the dining area where Edan and her father, Liam were standing as if
waiting for her. Her father rose and spoke, "Amani, Edan and I have
something to tell you."
She gave them a questioning look,
then stared at Edan. Edan rose and told Liam that he should tell
her.
"I know you will be leaving the sanctuary, but I will
be staying here. Liam offered to take me as a pupil and train me in
the ways of the Wahot's clan. I don't remember much and I should
learn more about my powers before running in blind." Edan gave her
the emotionless mask he usually only gave others.
"I
understand..." Amani just nodded, and her eyes held no tears, but
upon a closer look you could see she was hurt. Amani then sat down
awaiting breakfast. |

Amani saw Jeil walk into the room and gave him a
small smile. "Come sit down. My mother is about done preparing
breakfast. I am going to go see if she needs any help." Amani got
out of her seat and walked into the kitchen.
Her mother was
over by the stove and Amani just couldn't help but notice how
beautiful she was and that Maeko was exactly like how the others
remembered her. But even their words didn't match up to the real
thing.
"Do you need some help mother??" Amani stood next to
her and took in all the similarities between them.
"Sure why
don't you start bringing those two plates out to Liam and Edan."
Maeko smiled a brilliant smile that gleamed with happiness. Amani
couldn't help but smile back. She brought out the two plates and set
them to go back and retrieve the others.
"Mother go sit down
and rest you came back later than I last night. I'll take care of
the rest." Amani was concerned for her and Maeko did as she pleased
and went and sat down in the dining room. Amani finished preparing
the meals and brought the remaining three plates out. "Eat up and
enjoy." |

Amani had finished eating and helped her mother
with the dishes. Edan and Liam went into the training room they had,
while Amani went and visited Lathtal's grave.
"Hello, my
friend, it looks like Jeil and I are by ourselves now. Edan is going
to stay and train with my father. Something is comming, I can sense
it. Lathtal, in my dreams I'm haunted by the slaughterings of
innocents by angels and demons alike. I see my friends die a
thousand deaths. I do not know what it means." Amani continued to
talk to Lathtal's grave, as some water sprites began to fly around
her. |

no one would see him. His wings were out wide behind him, and he was
crouched down low with the seal in his right hand.
"Yah!" He
yelled, swinging the seal around with his wrist and feeling the
magic flow through him and the seal, turning the once small round
thing into a long staff. Jeil twirled the staff around, trying to
improve his technique... who knew when he'd need

Amani heard something back in the direction of her
house, and she turned away from the grave to get a look. Her eyes
landed on Jeil. Curious as to what he was doing she flew up and
above him to have a bird's eye view.
Huh? What is he
doing? He is twirling a staff...no...but it looks like he is
dancing..so gracefull...but where did he get the staff. Amani
couldn't stop her curiosity and landed near him. He did not seem to
notice her, but she would change that.
Amani brought one of
her hands above her and whispered to the spirits of water. She then
dropped her hand and water ,about the size of a small bucket,
dropped onto Jeil. A smile escaped her lips as she tried to hold in
her laughter at the wet demon.

Swing the staff, the enemy will not be able
to concentrait on both sides at once... Liej was instructing
from deep within Jeil, who was working with him in order to improve
technique,
I swing the... SPlASH!
Jeil's
thought was intturupted by the large amount of water which landed on
his head. His wings drooped from the water which was now dripping
off of them, and Jeil's fur was wet and now sticking out in random
places, he glared upwards spying Amani.
"Hey! That wasn't
fair!" Jeil called up to her.
You should have been paying
attention to your surroundings... Liej chided from within. Jeil
sent him a mental glare as he flapped his wings to dry them (Thank
goodness they weren't angel wings, they'd take forever to dry!) and
flew up to Amani.
"What is the angenda for today?" He asked,
pretending that the water inncident had never happened, despite the
drops of water which periodically dripped from his
fur. |

In her other hand the essence of wind seemed to come from it. The
wind created a warm breeze that circled Jeil, beginning to dry his
wet fur.

faeries were sprinkling by.
For some reason, this bothered
Weiße, and in an actions not significant enough to change the story,
he stopped a water pitcher-carrying waitress and asked:

know those faeries that were here yesterday?"
"Yeah...?"
"Where were they going?"
"Um.. I like, think they
have some sorta big faerie meeting or something."
"What?"
"It's like, a big meeting, where they do like, this stuff,
like government."
"Oh. How often does this happen?"
"Oh, I think, like, every year or so."
"I see. Where
do they meet?"
"Ummmmmm........." she seemed deep in
thought. "Up on Iron Mountain, in the forest. Right near where
Sangan lives."
"Thanks."

sweetly.
Amani looked at her with serene eyes. "Yes, I am
their daughter, Amani."
The woman looked surpisingly
familiar to Amani. "You were at the ball last night were you not?"
the woman asked. "Your voice is so lovely and you danced gracefully
with that man. A halfbreed right? "
Amani remembered the
woman watching her and Jeil dancing. "Thank you for the compliments,
and yes I did indeed dance with a halfbreed, but I myself am one as

Jeil looked away from the woman. He could tell
she didn't recognise him as the one who danced with Amani
previously, he was just a demon. Even though the people were were
half demon, they didn't like pure one or the other. Even though Jeil
wasn't pure demon, but half and half like the rest of them, he
couldn't prove it in anyway. Also he had an evil precence within him

Amani excused herself from the woman and smiled at
Jeil with bright eyes. She sat down onto the fountain's edge with
the mist softly spraying her.
She looked up at the sky
"Jeil, what are we supposed to do now?" Her eyes turned to his once
again. "There is something dark outside the sanctuary, something big
and powerful, but what are we supposed to do about it. Everyone here
seems calm...too calm about what lingers beyond the
walls."
Amani sighed a long heavy sigh. "Whatever lingers
outside the sanctuary's walls will not be an easy task to defeat. We
will need allies, but our forces seem to be just you an me now. A
betrayal from Jon, the passing of Sir Lathtal, and now Edan is
staying with my father to train. After tracking him down for 2
years, I It hurts me to think that I will be nothing more than just
a good friend or sister to him. It feels as if I have lost
him."
She hugged Jeil. "I'm afraid, Jeil. I don't want to
loose you too. The prophecies of the Matsi clan are right, death and
loss will forever hang around the one with black
wings."
Crystal tears began to cascade down her face as she
sat there holding onto Jeil as if he was her pillar of strength.

Jeil was a little surprised at the sudden
change of emotion Amani just went through. But he wrapped his
bat-like wings around the girl. He remembered himself in almost the
same position with Amani on the ball. He was in his normal form. He
remembered wrapping his black feathered wings around her. He
felt good then...
I had black wings too... Jeil
thought. Then he looked up.
"Whether or not these people
accept what is at their doorstep, it will consume them without pause
to whether they realize the danger or not." Jeil said, "I'm going to
have to fight for them, despite living or not..." Jeil said, then
looked at Amani. "... but I have good friends to help me through
it." She said, smiling, trying to bring the warmth back into her
eyes. |

Amani felt better when Jeil smiled, and wiped away
her tears. "Thank you, Jeil." She gave him a weak smile. "Sorry
about my episode, it is just that I feel useless. I cannot stand to
be sitting around doing nothing when I know something is out there."
She remembered the angels she had run into the other day and even at
the ball.
Maybe if I can find them, they will help us.
They might be back at that estate, the Duke's estate if I'm not
mistaken. I just hope they will let us in. Amani had a hope and
when she had hope she was determined to keep trying.
"Jeil,
we need allies and I think I might know who to get. Remember the
estate where the ball took place? Well, I ran into some people the
day of the ball, they were really nice and seem like really good
warriors as well. Maybe they might still be there. You want to go
check with me?" Amani gave him those innocent eyes.

In actuality, Eva had very little to do. She and
Naeva never carried very many things with them at a time-- why
bother when you'll be moving on in a few days anyway, after all?
Most of their essential belongings were still in their pack, aside
from the long-sleeved shirt Eva had opted not to put on that
morning. She folded it, packed it up, and eyed the pink, shimmery
dress that lay on a nearby chair.
Oh, lord, she
thought, rubbing her forehead in exasperation. Nae, you didn't
actually wear THAT last night, did you?
....Maybe, came
the answer, a bit guiltily. Naeva sounded slightly sleepy, as she'd
been getting her rest while her counterpart had control of the body.
Nae, it's so PINK.
It's PRETTY! Naeva
defended herself. Besides, I thought it looked nice. So did
W.....everyone else.
Oh, give it a rest. I already
found out that you fucked him, remember?
EVA!!
Naeva exclaimed, scandalized. It wasn't like that... Eva
obviously couldn't see her, but she knew that if she could, she'd be
blushing.
I know, I know. We're leaving for Sangan's
today, though. We taking the pink monstrosity or leaving it?
Can we take it? I promise I'll wear it again.
Okay, fine. But if it starts taking up too much room, out
it goes.
Okay.
Go back to sleep
now, Eva instructed her sister. I'm going back downstairs to
convince Aedan to bring Ariene along with us.
Yay! Naeva responded. 'Night, Eva.
'Night, Nae, Eva replied, and gathered up her bag and
went back downstairs. |
